Policies: 2026 Dahlia Tuber Sale Information
Our 2026 tuber sale:
- Each listing is for a single tuber, not a clump. We do not sell directly imported tubers.
Shipping Tubers:
The flat rate for shipping is: $16 (discounted to @$13 for end of season clearance)
We will Combine shipping if it is prior to our processing and shipping time. After April 1st, 2026 we will combine orders if additional orders are placed within a week of your first order. Orders will then be shipped. YOU MUST EMAIL us with order numbers to ask for combined shipping within that week.
All standard orders will begin shipping April 1st and aim to conclude by the end of April. If the sale remains open or a re-stock sale occurs, last orders being shipped will be by May 15th.
Cart:
Items placed in cart are not a guarantee of successful purchase. Your order is confirmed only when you receive an email confirmation with an order number. Based on highly desired varieties, checking out quickly with varieties you are wishing to snag and come back for others in order of priority to you. Just because it is in your cart does not mean it won’t go out of stock before you check out. We understand the frustration but have no control over this. The free combined shipping can be helpful for this reason.
Limits:
To spread the love and make rare dahlia varieties available to more people, there may be limits placed on some tubers. Limits are per household and not per person. Limits for tubers are for the entire season. If you try to add more than the maximum limit of any variety, the website will not let you check out. Please respect the limits per season. If we find the limits are broken your entire order will be cancelled and refunded.
Payments Accepted:
We accept Shop Pay and major credit cards included in shop pay. We do not accept Google Pay, Apple Pay, or Pay Pal at this time.
Sales Tax:
If your shipping address is in the state of Michigan, there will be sales tax added to your order based on your location and sales tax rates.
Order changes and Cancellations:
Once an order is placed, it is final. We cannot issue cancellations or changes to an order once it is placed. Please be sure before placing your order.
Substitutions:
We will never substitute one variety with another due to stock failure. In the rare event of a stock failure between your purchase date and shipping your product, you will receive an email from us and a full refund of only the unavailable tuber. We try very hard to keep this from happening.
Email Notifications:
Make sure you enter your correct email address when checking out. Notifications are sent to you via email every step of the way. When you place your order, when your shipping label is printed, when your order is out for delivery, and when it is delivered. If you do not enter your correct email, you will not be notified of these order updates which can result in damaged tubers or other important information.
Order Inspection:
Your tubers will arrive individually by variety in a bag with storage medium to insure they don’t lose moisture during shipping. Every tuber will be labeled on the bag as well as the actual tuber to avoid them getting mixed up once you receive them. After you receive your tubers, open each individual bag and inspect the tubers immediately.
Make sure to contact us within 5 days of receipt with any concerns. If your package is not opened in a timely manner and brought inside soon after delivery, there is a good chance your tubers will be exposed to damaging temperatures depending on your climate. We are not held responsible for orders that are left to the elements inside a mailbox or on a porch.
If a neck breaks or any damage happens to the tuber during shipping, we want you to contact us right away. We appreciate emails with quality concerns due to shipping and want to make sure you are able to grow the variety you purchased. Please don’t ignore issues!
After 5 days of tubers being delivered, we do not refund or replace for damage due to weather, excessive watering, rot after planting, poor field conditions, virus, pests, negligence or poor plant performance.
Mislabels:
Every tuber we sell is guaranteed to be true to variety. We take detailed precautions during every phase of growing to make sure you are getting the correct variety sold. Every plant has at least one nametag attached to it throughout the entire growing season as well as a spreadsheet of row and placement. Once the growing season is coming to an end, we go through each variety to verify blooms and health of the plant. Once they are out of the ground there are always 2 different labels to verify variety to keep from getting mislabels.
In the rare case that your tuber blooms and doesn’t look true to variety, please reach out by September 15th. Although we are as careful as possible, there is always possibility for human error. We will feel awful if that were to happen. Pictures will be needed for a replacement next season, and we will help confirm which variety you are growing. In the event we are not growing that variety any longer, we will issue a refund.
- Every single tuber we offer has been grown by us to confirm variety and visible health of the plant. We may occasionally sell plants that were grown by us but were unable to verify blooms prior to season ending. This will be specifically listed as such. In that case, the buyer takes the risk of it being worth their purchase and/or a fun surprise. True to variety guarantee does not apply to non-confirmed listings.
- Every tuber is guaranteed to have a viable eye or sprout, firm body, and true to variety.
The two things a tuber needs to grow into a beautiful plant is a chunk of root (body), and a viable eye. Some tubers actually have little to no neck. Although common to see a neck as part of a tuber, less neck actually can decrease the chance of fracture or rot in this area.
Tuber size, cuts or blemishes:
- Size: Tubers come in all shapes and sizes. Some varieties produce huge tubers, some produce small ones. We wont sell a tuber smaller than a AA battery in body width or length without disclosing it on the listing. Many people personally prefer smaller tubers which have smaller food storage (smaller tuber size) and usually show more resilience and grow quickly once planted to gain nutrients from the sun and soil.
We do not sell mother tubers. Some varieties do produce tubers that appear similar to mother tubers, rougher is texture. Upon dividing we mark all mother tubers with an M. (and often discard them)
- Cuts: We do sometimes trim the ends of our tubers and they grow just fine the following season. If a variety does produce huge tubers, tubers may be sliced even in half to produce a more compact tuber for shipping and growing. This also triggers the tuber to push growth once planted, and not rely on food storage from the tuber. These cut tubers grow the exact same as uncut tubers.
- Blemishes: Sometimes there will be a blemish that is cut out of a tuber when freshly divided to lessen the possibility of rot while in storage. Feeder tubers may also be removed from edges of sellable tubers. These things and other factors may make tubers look somewhat "ugly". These cuts heal over, overwinter perfectly fine, and can produce a beautiful plant. Please be aware and accepting of this before ordering.
Sanitization, disease and testing, etc:
We take sanitization during every step of growing and storage of dahlias seriously and devote a lot of effort toward it. By doing our part, we hope to sell the highest percentage of happy stock we can. Virus can be transferred between plants via water, sap sucking insects, pruning with dirty shears or living in your soil prior to planting. We can all do our part, but nature will still do its thing.
Due to extremely high cost of testing for viral pathogens and false results, it is not possible or realistic for any small grower to test all plants or guarantee them virus-free.
According to the ADS, 87% of dahlias carry at least one virus. Additionally, 75% of those are said to show no visible symptoms of carrying a virus.
We do cull hard and often for any plants that are showing signs of viral load (leaf mottling, stunted growth, mosaic patterns or unresolved yellowing on the leaves) to help unknown virus from spreading. Any gall that may be found is disposed of immediately with proper excavation, soil rest, or potential isolation of things nearby if applicable.
Should any concerns of gall or obvious virus appear on our end during the growing season, we will contact any buyers of that variety and let them know so they can keep an eye on their own stock.
